The Philadelphia Eagles faced off against the New York Giants in their second meeting of the season in an NFC East showdown. In a sloppy game to say the least, the offense was simply shut down the entirety of the game.
The Eagles deployed Michael Vick at the beginning of the game to take over the quarterback position and after four drives was pulled for rookie quarterback, Matt Barkley. Michael Vick just didn’t seem to be on top of his game this afternoon, and the Giants defense played well enough to shut down this Eagles offense completely. After a few knockdowns in all of Michael Vick’s four series, Chip Kelly decided it was time for Matt Barkley to take over. The Giants went on to defeat the Eagles 15-7 behind kicker, Josh Brown.
Matt Barkley was impressive in his first series, but made a costly turnover which may have been the play of the game. Barkley, rolled out to his left and scrambled up a few yards before having it stripped by a Giants defensive player. After that possession it was all downhill for the Eagles offense.
