By 6 PM Saturday, the Philadelphia Eagles will have reached their league mandated 53 man roster.
This is not to say that the roster will be finalized. The Eagles are a team the boasts depth along the offensive and defensive lines, but lacks depth in the secondary. Therefore, expect the Birds to continue to make roster moves as the players being released from other teams look for new homes.
Here is my shot at predicting the initial 53 man roster for our beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
Quarterback (3): Michael Vick, Nick Foles, Matt Barkley.
Out: Dennis Dixon, G.J. Kinne
No surprises here. Dixon has practice squad eligibility, so he could remain with the team. Kinne made a valiant effort, even attempting special teams, but will not make the team.
Running Back (3): LeSean McCoy, Bryce Brown, Chris Polk.
Out: Matthew Tucker, Emil Igwenagu
The Eagles, in my opinion, have the best triad of running backs in the league. Tucker and Igwenagu (fullback) will not make this team.
Wide Receivers (6): Desean Jackson, Riley Cooper, Jason Avant, Damaris Johnson, Russell Shepard, Greg Salas.
Out: Jeff Maehl, Will Murphy, Ifeanyi Momah
