In a day where most of the attention was focused on Vinny Curry, the Eagles ended up trading NT, Isaac Sopaoga and a 6th round pick to the Patriots for a 5th round pick in this year’s draft. Numerous teams were reaching out to the Eagles about Vinny Curry’s services, but I don’t believe the Eagles were willing to part with the Marshall project unless it was for the right price.
Although, the move wasn’t a blockbuster deal, it does create more opportunities for the young defensive linemen to step up, particularly rookie, Bennie Logan. The Eagles certainly have some depth in defensive linemen, so parting ways for Sopaoga made the most sense.
The Eagles have decisions to make now on who will be the best fit on the defensive line. They have numerous options such as, Clifton Geathers, Damion Square, Cedric Thornton, Bennie Logan.
The Eagles have a dilemma on who will play on the defensive line, but this dilemma is at least a good one.
